100% Pure Pineapple Facial Scrub Review

100% Pure Pineapple Facial Scrub – Review

Being from Hawai’i, I love everything exotic, tropical and anything that’s reminiscent of paradise. Coconut, pikake, passionfruit, pineapple – you name it, I probably love it. (I also love coffee, chocolate and vanilla, but that’s for another review.) So, this bias has me drawn to products like this pineapple facial scrub. 100% Pure, one of my favorite companies, is just that – a company that makes its products (cosmetics, bath & body, skin care, hair care) without synthetic chemicals, artificial fragrances, chemical preservatives or any other toxins.

I bought this a few weeks ago and have been using it about 4 times a week. I know you don’t usually use face scrubs that often, but I’ll explain why I could afford to in this case. At first try, I noticed the scrub felt runny. I’m used to scrubs with a thicker viscosity,  whether it’s for my face or body. It’s very white, but smells nice. Tart, like pineapple, and not too overpowering. There’s some small jojoba beads as well, good for those who can’t handle too much abrasion.

This scrub (if you can call it that – the cream-to-beads ratio leans heavily towards the cream) is very, very gentle. It’s ideal for those with sensitive skin, maybe even if you have some slight irritation and want to exfoliate. Because it’s so gentle, I want to say you can use this daily, but I personally wouldn’t. Maybe every other if you want.

At any rate, when you rinse it off, the product leaves a thin, moisturizing layer that feels pretty nice on my normal skin. I first felt this sort of layer when using the skinnyskinny coffee scrub, so I’m getting used to it now! Not greasy or gross. Some of the ‘film’ seems to come off when I dried my face, though it still felt soft. One thing I loved was that I noticed some brightness after two uses. Pretty impressive. It’s meant for dull skin anyhow. There’s pineapple, lemon, kojic acid and papaya (papain) juice and extracts to help brighten and lighten skin. They’re listed high on the ingredient list so that’s also excellent.

Now, would I keep using this on a regular basis? Probably not, but only because I think it’s too gentle for my skin. I can afford to have my facial scrubs be a bit more coarse and thick, and this is too soft for my taste. I’m going to see if I can find a coarser scrub I can use once or twice a week from 100% Pure instead. Maybe the Cherry Honey scrub.
